We will discuss the details of your procedure in detail to ensure the surgical approach aligns with your goals and desired outcome.
Candidates
You may be a candidate for breast augmentation if:
- You are unhappy with the size or shape of your breasts
- You’ve experienced changes in breast volume or shape due to aging, pregnancy, or weight fluctuations
- You’d like a more proportionate figure or improved breast symmetry
- You are in good overall health and have realistic expectations
- You are a non-smoker (or you are willing to quit prior to surgery)
Candidates must also be not currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
Recovery
Recovery from breast augmentation varies from patient to patient. In general, here’s what you can expect:
After surgery, you’ll be monitored in a recovery room before being discharged. You’ll need someone to drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 to 48 hours.
Most of this week will be resting and healing. Swelling, bruising, and discomfort are common; these symptoms can be managed with prescribed medications. You’ll be advised to wear a special support bra to minimize swelling and support your new breast shape. Patients may be able to return to work after approximately 7 to 10 days.
Light activities can generally be resumed within a week. Strenuous activities, especially those involving the upper body, should continue to be avoided for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
After the initial 7 to 10 days of downtime, most patients are ready to resume general activities (except strenuous exercise) but may still have some bruising, soreness, and swelling. Full recovery can take several weeks to months as the implants settle into place and your body adjusts to the changes. Regular follow-up appointments will ensure your recovery is progressing as expected.
